What's Happening at the Symphony

Thank you for an incredible summer:

Every summer, world-class performers, thousands of enthusiastic concert-goers and a beautiful waterfront venue combine to make the Symphony’s Summer Pops truly one-of-a-kind entertainment and the pride of this city. In 2015, the Symphony went above and beyond, inviting a wide range of guest artists in response to increasingly diverse audience demand. Exciting performances by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, LeAnn Rimes, Ben Folds, and Esperanza Spalding, as well as an electrifying Comic-Con Star Wars concert, were just some of the highlights of this year’s Summer Pops programming.

The Symphony owes a great debt of gratitude to generous donors from the local community and to the support of the Port of San Diego for making the 2015 Summer Pops possible. The San Diego Symphony Orchestra is sponsored by the Port of San Diego’s Tidelands Activation Program, designed to support a vibrant and active waterfront with events that engage the community and inspire visitors to enjoy San Diego Bay. This mission goes hand-in-hand with the Symphony’s mission of accessible classical music for all.

Inspired by its successful 2015 Summer Pops season, the Symphony is excited to present our 2015-16 Jacobs Masterworks concerts downtown at the Jacobs Music Center, beginning the weekend of October 9-11 with pianist Yuja Wang. Guest artists Karen Gomyo, Jeremy Denk, Pinchas Zukerman, Midori and Jean-Yves Thibaudet will also be featured in concert performances through May 2016.
