FOR PRE-K THROUGH PRIMARY GRADES

Kinder Koncerts: These chamber orchestra concerts performed in satellite venues around the county are designed to introduce our youngest listeners to classical music, to the instruments of the orchestra and to the live concert experience.

FOR ELEMENTARY GRADES

Meet a Musician: San Diego Symphony musicians visit classrooms to speak about life as a professional musician, demonstrate his/her instrument and answer questions.

Ensemble Performances: Small ensembles from the symphony visit groups of students at their school.  Students learn about the instrumental families, how sound is produced on each instrument and how to listen actively to music.

FOR MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS

"HOT SHOTS" Young Artists Competition: This annual concerto competition recognizes talented youth from all over San Diego County.  Click HERE for complete information.

Masterclasses: Visiting guest artists and San Diego Symphony musicians offer advanced music students an opportunity to be evaluated and coached while other students listen and learn.

Music Coach: San Diego Symphony musicians bring their expertise and enthusiasm for making music to young musicians during sectional rehearsals for their school orchestra or band. 

Open Rehearsals: High school and college level students have an exciting and unique opportunity to attend a rehearsal of a Jacobs' Masterworks concert.  This is a wonderful way for students and teachers to see how the conductor, soloist and musicians work together to create the highest quality musical performance.  Click HERE for this season's schedule.

Student Rush Tickets: Students aged 35 and under with current ID may enjoy any San Diego Symphony concert at Copley Symphony Hall for just $10, but must purchase their tickets no sooner than one hour in advance, limit 2 per ID, subject to availability. Family Festival Concerts: Designed for 4-12 year-olds and their parents, these fun and interactive concerts help youngsters, parents and other family members discover and enjoy the power and beauty of symphony music.  Click HERE for complete information. 

FOR ADULTS

Ensemble Performances: Small ensembles from the Symphony perform at local libraries, senior centers and hospice facilities.

What's the Score?: Enlightening pre-concert presentations hosted by Nuvi Mehta provide context for and musical exerpts from the day's program beginning 45 minutes before each Jacobs Masterworks concert.

Symphony Exposé: This four-concert series examines the “inside story” of some of the greatest masterworks in the orchestral repertoire. Using a multi-media presentation, host Nuvi Mehta immerses the audience in historical contexts of the evening’s music and composer, lending insight and humor as only he can.  Click HERE for complete information.
