Taiwanese violist I-Hsuan Huang holds a Master's Degree from the New England Conservatory and a Doctorate Degree from Rutgers University, where she studied with Kim Kashkashian, Paul Neubauer and Toby Appel.

Ms. Huang was a winner of the 13th and 14th Chi-Mei Artist Scholarship and has won top prizes in various solo and solo concerti competitions, including the 1st Prize in the Child, Junior and Youth Division Viola Solo of the Taiwan National Instrument Competition. She was also the Winner of the Chinese Composition Performance at the Republic of China Concerto Competition, and the Winner of the Rutgers Concerto Competition.

Ms. Huang performed with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra during the 2009-2010 season and served as assistant principal violist in the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra from 2010 to 2012. From 2012 to 2022, she was a member of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra’s viola section.

As an educator, she was an assistant professor at Miles College from 2010 to 2012. From 2012 to 2019, she was appointed as an assistant professor at Tunghai University in Taiwan.

Ms. Huang has performed solo concerti with orchestra, solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and has served as viola principal in concert hall venues that include Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Argenta Hall and Pareda Hall of Cantabria Festival Center in Spain, as well as Sydney Hall, Tokyo Suntory Hall, Taiwan’s National Concert Hall and Taipei’s Novel Hall. As an advocate for chamber music, she has been a member of the Taiwan Connection Music Festival since 2012, and she formed the Artrich String Quartet, which has given frequent performances in numerous concert halls and schools in Taiwan.

I-Hsuan Huang moved from Taiwan and settled in San Diego in 2022. She is currently serving as an acting member of the viola section of the San Diego Symphony.
