Double bassist Kathryn Bradley joins the San Diego Symphony for the 2021-22 season after completing her three-year Fellowship with the New World Symphony.
Ms. Bradley received her Bachelors of Music Performance at the Peabody Institute of Music, where she studied with Ira Gold. Following her time in Baltimore, Ms. Bradley was accepted into Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music where she studied under Timothy Pitts and earned her Master’s Degree in 2018. Over the last year, she has built a diverse online studio where she teaches students from all over the country.
Ms. Bradley grew up in the St. Louis classical music community where her passion was nurtured through participation in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, and by her teachers David DeRiso and Dacy Gillespie. She has performed at numerous festivals and institutes, including the Aspen Music Festival, Festival Napa Valley, Wabass Institute, Texas Music Festival and Chautauqua Music Festival.
When she is not playing the bass, Kathryn Bradley enjoys strengthening her yoga practice, baking sourdough, adding to her extensive ceramics collection and finding new restaurants around San Diego.
