CelloNicole Chung
Nicole Chung was born in Seoul, Korea and began playing the cello at age 7. As an active chamber musician and soloist, Ms. Chung has given recitals in Korea, Canada, USA and the Netherlands. In 2023 she received an Artist Diploma from University of Colorado where she studied and served as a teaching assistant to David Requiro. In 2021 she received a Masters degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she worked with Steven Doane and Rosemary Elliott and served as a teaching assistant for Guy Johnston. In 2019 she graduated with a Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan where she studied with Richard Aaron.
Prior to her college years, Ms. Chung worked closely with Judith Fraser at the Vancouver Academy of Music in Canada. She has appeared in numerous music festivals such as Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival, the Holland Music Sessions and Aspen Music Festival, receiving the prestigious New Horizons award from the latter. Aside from performing, Ms. Chung’s passions also lie in other aspects of music such as teaching and working with young aspiring musicians.
This will be Nicole Chung’s first season as an acting section cellist, and she is thrilled to be joining the San Diego Symphony during this exciting time.
