ViolinTiffany Wee
Tiffany Wee was born and raised in Redlands, California. She is a member of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and joined the orchestra starting in the Fall 2024 season. Previously, Ms. Wee was a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with ensembles including the Pacific Symphony, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Norwalk Symphony Orchestra, Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and Phoenix Orchestra of Boston.
Ms. Wee is a passionate performer of chamber music. She has performed with musicians including The Formosa Quartet, Antonio Lysy, Roberto Diaz and members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. At UCLA she was a member of the Gluck String Quartet program, which brought music to surrounding elementary and middle schools and community homes in the broader Los Angeles community.
During her time as a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, she played a key role as both a mentor and performer in the Harmony Quartet, which specialized in education outreach and community engagement around the greater New Haven area.
Ms. Wee was a Violin Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center for multiple consecutive summers. For the past two years, she was a member of The New Fromm Quartet, which was dedicated to premiering new works by fellow composers and exploring contemporary music. Throughout her summers, she has been fortunate to work with renowned conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Dima Slobodeniouk and Thomas Adés.
Ms. Wee studied at the Yale School of Music where she earned her Masters of Music and Masters of Musical Arts degrees, and at the University of California Los Angeles Herb Alpert School of Music for her Bachelors of Music degree. She studied under the guidance of Ani Kavafian, Movses Pogossian, Varty Manouelian, Alice Schoenfeld, Danielle Belen and Theresa Woo.
Aside from her musical pursuits, you can find Tiffany Wee exploring local restaurants, spending time with her family and their dog, or baking at home.
