Meet the Ticket Office: Eddie Lamas
The Ticket Office is the part of our organization you probably interact with the most. They are the ones who are finding you the best seats, recommending concerts and ensuring each concert is memorable. We sat down with Ticket Services Associate Eddie Lamas to learn a little more about life on the other side of those glass windows in the Jacobs Music Center.
SDSO: What is a typical day like for you?
EL: A typical day is speaking with Patrons about what concerts they are interested in and making it happen whether that be through Phone, Email, or in person at our Box Office windows.
SDSO: What is the most rewarding and most challenging aspect of your job?
EL: Seeing all different kinds of people from all walks of life coming to experience a wonderful night. While handling exchanges that need to be exchanged, helping patrons purchase tickets, and ensuring that Will Call is all taken care of before show time can be hectic, there is no better sense of relief and accomplishment when it comes to concerts. Only working a fast paced concert day can fill in the category of being challenging and rewarding at the same time.
SDSO: What is your favorite type of concert to attend?
EL: My favorite concerts to attend are the Jazz concerts because I love listening to Jazz music, so I am really looking forward to the upcoming Jazz at the Jacobs specifically November 11th for Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz Band for the upcoming 18-19 Season.
SDSO: What is something people don’t understand about your job?
EL: People may think well you work at a Ticket Office so you sell tickets but it’s so much more than that, when you attend a San Diego Symphony concert its more than a concert it’s an experience and everyone in the Box Office knows that we will always do our best to get you the best experience possible to help you FIND YOUR MUSIC.
