Video game music comes to the orchestra concert hall - LA Times

An orchestra performing the score to a video game is not a new phenomenon to the San Diego Symphony. We’ve been doing it for the past 10 years—most notably with Final Fantasy and Video Games Live—and soon-to-be with Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions during the upcoming Summer Pops when Comic-Con comes to town. Performances such as these have proven to be successful in terms of ticket revenue as well as appealing to a whole new audience.
Recently, Martha Gilmer, chief executive officer of the San Diego Symphony, spoke with the Los Angeles Times about this concert-going experience taking the orchestra world by storm.
