What’s Your Music?: Guest Artists
Pianist Wei Luo recently shared what excites her about her performances of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the San Diego Symphony this December. She also recommends other upcoming concerts she’d love to attend!
Tell us about “your music” at San Diego Symphony.
Prokofiev’s piano concerto number three is probably one of the most well-received concertos ever written. Both virtuosic and lyrical, the concerto has very dynamic rhythms and beautiful tunes. The conversations between the orchestra and piano soloist is intriguing as well.
What concert do you want to attend in the 2019/20 season at San Diego Symphony?
Looking through the 2019-2020 season, there are so many great and exciting concerts that I want to attend! If I had to choose one concert, I would love to hear Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in April.
What excites you about your choice?
As a pianist myself, I love Russian music, and performed the piece last year. It is such a giant masterpiece – like the Mt. Everest of piano repertoire - challenging mentally and physically.
Pianist Wei Luo takes the stage this December for Ling Conducts Prokofiev & Dvorak.
