Pianist Rob Fisher leads an evening celebrating Broadway hits from throughout the decades.
Broadway songwriters’ concerns of love, yearning and frustration are timeless and universal. There is an energy and passion we expect from Broadway music that is always there, even when contemporary musical styles change with the times. This evening will compare how geniuses like Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter, along with teams like Kander and Ebb and Rodgers and Hammerstein reflect on our humanity in a program with songs from shows as old as Carousel and as recent as Waitress and Dear Evan Hansen. A journey of discovery and fun that reminds us that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Please note: the San Diego Symphony Orchestra does not appear on this program.
