This concert is a preview event of The California Festival, a new, statewide music initiative showcasing the most compelling and forward-looking voices
in performances of works written in the past five years.

The San Diego Symphony Orchestra will make its first appearance in Tijuana at the annual Día de los Muertos celebration at CECUT. With more than one million visitors annually, CECUT is the preeminent cultural center of the Northern Baja Region in Mexico. This free performance event represents the efforts of collaborative partnership between the two neighboring nations and the goal of exploring opportunities for cross-cultural exchange today and in the future. It also commemorates the 200th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Mexico and The United States.

The program itself highlights a commitment to sustainable partnership with a diversity that honors rich heritages and traditions, from the iconic sounds of Richard Strauss to the unique dynamism of Latin GRAMMY® nominated Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz. “This concert is a testament to the vibrant binational relationship that exists between our communities, and the power of music to bridge cultures,” – San Diego Symphony CEO, Martha Gilmer.

El 2 de noviembre de 2023, la Orquesta Sinfónica de San Diego hará su primera aparición en Tijuana en la celebración anual del Día de los Muertos en el CECUT. Con más de un millón de visitantes anuales, el CECUT es el centro cultural preeminente de la Región Norte de Baja California en México. Este evento de actuación gratuita representa los esfuerzos de colaboración entre las dos naciones vecinas y el objetivo de explorar oportunidades para el intercambio intercultural hoy y en el futuro. También conmemora el 200 aniversario de la relación diplomática entre México y Estados Unidos.

El programa en sí destaca un compromiso con la asociación sostenible con una diversidad que rinde homenaje a ricas herencias y tradiciones, desde los icónicos sonidos de Richard Strauss hasta el dinamismo único de la compositora mexicana nominada al Latin GRAMMY®, Gabriela Ortiz.
