ViolinBenjamin Hoffman

Violinist Benjamin Hoffman, who joins the San Diego Symphony for the 2021-22 season, has been heard across North America, Europe and Asia as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Mr. Hoffman is a founding member of the Brightfeather Duo, a sonata partnership with pianist Irene Kim, and can be seen and heard online performing repertoire ranging from solo violin works to chamber music and large orchestral pieces, frequently leading the orchestra without conductor. He has had the privilege of collaborating with many of the world's foremost musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, John Adams, Peter Oundjian, Gary Hoffman, Jorja Fleezanis and members of the Berlin and New York Philharmonic orchestras He has performed in renowned halls such as Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall, David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Musikverein in Vienna, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China and the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea. He has appeared in festivals such as Yellow Barn, Aspen, and Chamber Music Northwest, and is known for his dedication to a wide range of repertoire including numerous world premieres. Benjamin Hoffman holds degrees from Indiana University and the Yale School of Music, where he studied with Alexander Kerr and Ani Kavafian.
