James Ehnes, Violin
MONDAY OCTOBER 19, 2015—7:30pm
Formally established in 2010, the members of the Ehnes Quartet have played chamber music together in various formations for more than 20 years. The quartet’s highly refined, sensitive and expressive performances delight audiences and critics alike, and have made them one of the most sought after chamber groups performing today.
AN EVENING WITH ART OF ÉLAN
TUESDAY November 3, 2015—7:30pm (Jacobs Music Center)
This will be the first concert collaboration between the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and San Diego’s innovative chamber music organization Art of Élan, with a focus on NYC composers Judd Greenstein, Anna Clyne and Missy Mazzoli, all affiliated with the Brooklyn upstart New Amsterdam Records and known for producing genre-defying new work. Greenstein’s Change will be performed in its original chamber version on this program before the orchestration (an SDSO Co-Commission) is performed later in that week’s Jacobs Masterworks concert.

Recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2008, violinist Karen Gomyo has been hailed by the Chicago Tribune as “A first-rate artist of real musical command, vitality, brilliance and intensity” and by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as “captivating, honest and soulful, fueled by abundant talent but not a vain display of technique.”
JEREMY DENK PERFORMS BACH'S COMPLETE GOLDBERG VARIATIONS
TUESDAY January 19, 2016—7:30pm (Jacobs Music Center)
One of America’s most thought-provoking, multi-faceted, and compelling artists, pianist Jeremy Denk is the winner of a 2013 MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, the 2014 Avery Fisher Prize and Musical America’s 2014 Instrumentalist of the Year award. This chamber concert, performed during January’s Piano Festival, will feature a complete performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations.
YOLANDA KONDONASSIS, HARP
TUESDAY March 15, 2016—7:30pm
The featured soloist on the San Diego Symphony Orchestra’s acclaimed Never Far Away recording makes her Chamber Music Series debut! Yolanda Kondonassis is celebrated as one of the world’s premier solo harpists and is widely regarded as today’s most recorded classical harpist. Hailed as “an extraordinary virtuosa” and “sheer luminescence at the harp,” she has performed around the globe as a concerto soloist and in recital, bringing her unique brand of musicianship and warm artistry to an ever-increasing audience.
SUNDAY April 3, 2016—7:30pm
One of the world's most famous violinists of the last 30 years, Midori makes her Chamber Music Series debut, performing selections for solo violin by J.S. Bach. Also, musicians of the SDSO perform Beethoven's Opus 131 String Quartet. (Note: date has changed from previously published materials.)
JEAN-YVES THIBAUDET, PIANO

Hailed as “one of the best pianists in the world,” Jean-Yves Thibaudet continues to captivate audiences around the world with his thrilling performances, profound artistry, poetic musicality and dazzling technical prowess. Thibaudet is sought after by today’s foremost orchestras, festivals, conductors, and collaborative musicians for his enlightened interpretations and charisma. This season finale concert will be Mr. Thibaudet’s Chamber Music Series debut.
