COMMUNITY TICKETS

Through Music Connects, the San Diego Symphony partners with nonprofit and community-based organizations across the San Diego–Tijuana region to provide free tickets to select San Diego Symphony performances throughout the season.

In the 2026–27 season, nearly 7,500 tickets will be shared with the community. This program is designed to increase access to live music while supporting organizations that are doing critical work to strengthen our region.


PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Approved Community Partners receive invitations to attend select San Diego Symphony performances throughout the season.

Concerts take place at:

  • Jacobs Music Center
  • The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park

Eligible concert types may include:

  • Jacobs Masterworks at the Jacobs Music Center
  • Family Concerts at the Jacobs Music Center
  • Symphony Kids concerts at the Jacobs Music Center
  • San Diego Symphony performances at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park
  • Special Presentations (limited availability, select events only)

Concert types NOT eligible for this program:

  • Rental events
  • Jazz @ The Jacobs concerts

Partners can expect:

  • Invitations to attend a limited number of concerts per season
  • Approximately 20 tickets per concert offer, depending on availability

PARTNER EXPECTATIONS

To ensure this program serves as many community members as possible, partners agree to the following:

  • Designate one primary contact to manage communication and ticket distribution
  • Request only the number of tickets your organization can use
  • Distribute tickets only to individuals connected to your organization (resale is strictly prohibited)
  • Return unused tickets in advance whenever possible

Examples of appropriate ticket usage:

  • Clients and participants in direct service programs
  • Staff
  • Volunteers

Ticket Policy:
Music Connects tickets are provided free of charge and may not be sold, exchanged, auctioned, or distributed in return for money, goods, services, donations, or any other form of financial contribution, whether direct or indirect. Tickets may not be used as part of a fundraising effort, commercial transaction, promotional campaign, or public incentive.

Utilization Goal:
Our goal is for at least 75% of tickets to be used for each concert.


WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Eligible organizations include:

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations providing direct services
  • Government agencies serving active military, veterans, and their families
  • Organizations must be based in and serving communities within San Diego County or the Tijuana region.

HOW IT WORKS
  1. Apply to become a Community Partner
  2. Applications are reviewed quarterly: August, November, February and May
  3. Primary contact meets with SDSO team
  4. Approved partners receive concert invitations via email
  5. Partners submit ticket requests for concerts they are able to attend
  6. Tickets are distributed via the San Diego Symphony's mobile ticketing app.
