Middle & High School

Linda & Shearn Platt Open Rehearsals

San Diego Symphony's Linda & Shearn Platt Open Rehearsals are designed specifically for Middle and High School music programs. Open Rehearsals support music educators in their learning goals, encourage instrumental music in schools, and provide a direct connection between student musicians and the professional musicians of the San Diego Symphony.

DURING A LINDA & SHEARN PLATT OPEN REHEARSAL FOR SCHOOLS YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • A welcome from a San Diego Symphony staff member
  • Seating for your entire school group (students, educators and chaperones)
  • An announcement from the stage welcoming your school and students

Note: If you are looking for programming for elementary school students, please visit our Elementary School page for detailed information on program that is appropriate for that age group. Due to the nature of these rehearsals, we recommend this program for students in grades 6 – 12 and college.

Important planning notes:

  • Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the rehearsal so that we can greet and seat your group.
  • Rehearsal will include a 20-minute break beginning approximately 60-90 minutes from the start of the rehearsal.
  • This is a working rehearsal, so we ask that students remain quiet throughout and hold all applause until the break and end of the rehearsal.
  • Films will not always be shown while the orchestra rehearses music from movies.
