This is where music lovers gather to enjoy a picnic on the lawn, share a bottle of champagne at reserved tables, or sit in the grandstand taking in the beauty of San Diego Bay. The shimmering skyline and spectacular fireworks provide the perfect backdrop for enjoying the great San Diego Symphony and special guest artists.
Bayside Summer Nights offers an eclectic variety of artists, genres and performances in a one-of-a-kind, outdoor concert setting like no other.
All concerts begin at 7:30pm unless otherwise noted.

Star Spangled Pops
Our summer season at the Bayside kicks off with our traditional salute to America, complete with patriotic hits and rousing selections from movies and Broadway, capped off with a glorious fireworks display.

From her award-winning turn in the recent Broadway revival of Noises Off to her ace appearances on TV in Smash and Sean Saves the World, Megan Hilty is one of today’s most exciting performers. First gaining notice on Broadway in Wicked and 9 to 5: The Musical, Megan brings her acclaimed voice and versatility to the Bayside.
From learning jazz on the streets of Cuba to touring the world with Dizzy Gillespie and embracing a new home in America, trumpet master Arturo Sandoval has had a legendary career filled with powerful music and bright, driving rhythms, perfect for a night under the stars.
With hits like “Jessie’s Girl,” "I've Done Everything for You", "Don't Talk to Strangers" and more, Rick Springfield sang passionate anthems of love for ‘80s teens that live on forever, but this hard-working musician and actor has grown into a confident performer in many music genres, which will all be on display under our concert lights.
GODFATHERS OF LATIN JAZZ: A SALUTE TO DIZZY GILLESPIE AND CHANO POZO*
In 1947 jazz master Dizzy Gillespie invited Cuban conguero Chano Pozo to participate in the Carnegie Hall concert (and subsequent European tour) that launched the modern Latin Jazz movement worldwide. Our program celebrates that key collaboration and features some of today’s most exciting jazz musicians.
MARC COHN AND THE BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA*
Grammy® Award-winning singer-songwriter Marc Cohn makes his Bayside debut, bringing a treasure chest of rich, evocative, soulful songs, including his monster hit, “Walking in Memphis.” His special guests are recent collaborators and gospel music legends, The Blind Boys of Alabama.
Entertainer...entrepreneur...humanitarian – these are just a few words to describe the incomparable force known as Patti LaBelle. With several decades worth of hits such as “Lady Marmalade,” “You Are My Friend,” “Stir It Up” and more, Patti is sure the deliver one of the hottest, most soulful nights of the summer!
BEETHOVEN BY THE BAY
Our annual classical concert by the Bay features the orchestra in a performance of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and other favorite classical works.
We are thrilled to welcome back the one and only Burt Bacharach, a San Diego Symphony summer concerts favorite of many years. Burt will bring his amazing treasure trove of pop hits that became the soundtrack of an era, created anew by his sensational company of singers and the Orchestra!

"BIRD" ON THE BAY: A CHARLIE PARKER TRIBUTE FEAT. CHARLES MCPHERSON*
Charlie "Bird" Parker, THE innovator of bebop, speaks to all jazz musicians and music aficionados. His pioneering explorations on alto saxophone, playing complex lines over challenging harmonies, resonate to this day. Our special guest for this tribute is modern sax master Charles McPherson, famous for his work with Clint Eastwood on the Parker biopic, Bird.
WEST SIDE STORY - THE FILM
Celebrate the 57th anniversary of the iconic winner of ten Oscars® — the San Diego Symphony performs Leonard Bernstein’s score live with the re-mastered film (directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, featuring Robbins’ choreography, Ernest Lehman’s screenplay, Arthur Laurents’ book and Stephen Sondheim’s lyrics) shown in hi-definition with original vocals and dialog intact.

Our annual tribute to film music is back, with an all-new set of expertly edited clips from award-winning masterpieces of cinema accompanied by some of the greatest music ever written for the movies!
From former Mexican teen idol to “ranchera hunk” and prolific telenovela actor and composer, Pablo Montero has had an active and dramatic career in the public spotlight for over two decades. Now he brings his macho charm and smooth vocal delivery to Bayside Summer Nights, accompanied by a mariachi ensemble.
ROGER DALTREY WITH BAND MEMBERS FROM THE WHO*
Music icon Roger Daltrey performs WHO hits, rarities and songs from his new album in this special appearance with members of THE WHO touring band.
CHICAGO THE MUSICAL -

Two of the greatest acts in Motown history...all on one incredible program! Original members Abdul “Duke” Fakir of the Four Tops and Otis Williams of The Temptations lead this powerfully nostalgic trip through indelible pop music classics like “I Can’t Help Myself,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “My Girl” and so many more!

1812 TCHAIKOVSKY SPECTACULAR
Another fantastic summer at the Embarcadero comes to an end with our ever-popular Tchaikovsky concert, led by Associate Conductor Sameer Patel. Don’t miss the grand finale: the 1812 Overture with booming cannons and a grand fireworks display over San Diego Bay!
