Tim Saeger

Tim Saeger joined the San Diego Symphony Orchestra as Second Trumpet in June 2026. A lifelong San Diegan, he has performed with the orchestra as a substitute and extra musician since 2018, serving in a variety of roles across multiple genres. After many seasons performing alongside the orchestra, his appointment as Second Trumpet represents the culmination of a lifelong musical journey in the city he has always called home.

For more than two decades, Tim has maintained an active freelance career throughout Southern California. His work has included a wide range of orchestral, chamber, theatrical, commercial and jazz engagements, making him a familiar presence in the region’s musical community. His musical training included studies at San Diego State University, where exposure to a wide range of musical experiences helped form the foundation for his versatile career as a performer.

As an educator, he has been a dedicated trumpet instructor for more than 20 years. He has coached trumpet sections at several local high schools and maintains a large private studio, working with students throughout San Diego.

In addition to his work as a performer and educator, Tim is a husband and father. Together with his family, he enjoys spending time at home and taking in all that the city has to offer.
