Cryptocurrency offers a modern and increasingly established way to support the San Diego Symphony. As digital assets become a more prominent part of the financial landscape, they are also playing a growing role in philanthropy. What was once considered an emerging trend has quickly matured into a meaningful channel for charitable giving. In 2025 alone, more than $100 million in cryptocurrency donations were processed through The Giving Block, a fundraising platform and ecosystem designed to help nonprofits accept donations in cryptocurrency, with total crypto contributions surpassing $300 million to date.
In response to this shift, the Symphony now accepts cryptocurrency donations, ensuring that giving remains flexible, forward-thinking, and aligned with how donors manage and grow their assets today. By embracing this form of philanthropy, we are meeting supporters where they are and making it easier to give in ways that reflect an evolving financial landscape.
For many donors, these gifts may offer meaningful tax advantages, including the potential to avoid capital gains taxes on appreciated assets while receiving a charitable deduction based on the full fair market value of the contribution (we encourage you to consult your tax advisor for details).
Support through cryptocurrency helps sustain the full scope of the Symphony’s work, from world-class performances to music education programs and community engagement efforts that expand access to the arts across our region.
Cryptocurrency donations, including widely held assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, can be made securely and efficiently through our website via The Giving Block.
