Rodion Belousov was awarded tenure as Second Oboe with the San Diego Symphony in 2022. Prior to this, he was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
As a soloist, Mr. Belousov was featured on Netflix’s four-time Emmy-nominated mega-hit fantasy series The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill. Mr. Belousov’s mesmerizing oboe and duduk solos propelled the soundtrack to incredible success - charting on Billboard’s Top 20 Current Albums, Top 20 Album Sales, and Top 10 Soundtrack Albums, and soaring to No. 1 on iTunes in every major territory. With over half a billion album streams, this made Mr. Belousov one of the most streamed oboe artists globally. Mr. Belousov was featured on NBC’s The Thing About Pam, starring two-time Oscar® winner Renée Zellweger (the network’s No.1 series of the 2021-2022 season) and on Amazon’s critically acclaimed The Romanoffs, starring six-time Emmy-nominated Christina Hendricks, Academy Award-nominated Isabelle Huppert and Diane Lane, and Golden Globes-nominated Aaron Eckhart. Mr. Belousov was also featured on two-time Emmy-nominated Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli’s Sony Music record “A Mighty Heart Beating Like A Drum,” alongside Grammy-winning Serj Tankian of legendary System of a Down, Tarja of Nightwish, Bad Wolves and other incredible artists.
Mr. Belousov has performed in the world’s most celebrated venues, including Carnegie Hall (New York), Boston Symphony Hall (Boston), the Berliner Philharmonie (Berlin), the Wiener Musikverein (Vienna), KKL (Lucerne), the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), St. Petersburg Philharmonia (St. Petersburg), Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), the Rudolfinum (Prague), Centro Cultural Kirchner (Buenos Aires) and Gran Teatro Nacional (Lima). As a winner of the Keston MAX Award, Mr. Belousov has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Sir Simon Rattle.
Rodion Belousov holds a Master of Music degree and a Performance Diploma from Boston University, where he studied with John Ferrillo and Anne Marie Gabriele, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Longy School of Music, where he studied with Gonzalo Ruiz and Keisuke Wakao. Additionally, he attended the Music Academy of the West, where he studied with Eugene Izotov, Cynthia DeAlmeida, Robert Walters and Xiomara Mass, as well as the NOI National Orchestral Institute + Festival. Mr. Belousov has performed with the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra under Grammy-nominated Benjamin Zander and the Boston Ballet Orchestra.
