AUDITIONS - SAN DIEGO SYMPHONY CHORUS

Welcome to the Audition Page for the
SAN DIEGO SYMPHONY CHORUS (Andrew Megill, Advisor & Chorus Master)

On the occasion of the reopening of Jacobs Music Center, the San Diego Symphony announced the formation of the inaugural San Diego Symphony Chorus.

This exciting opportunity brings together choral voices in the region for concerts accompanying the Orchestra at the newly renovated Jacobs Music Center. (One of the most striking new features of the indoor space is the Choral Terrace, built above the stage area, where the Chorus performs.)

The San Diego Symphony will be holding auditions in September 2026 for interested singers wishing to audition for the SAN DIEGO SYMPHONY CHORUS roster. 

Auditions for the chorus are open to all interested singers.  

All voice types are encouraged to audition. 

The sign up deadline for this round of auditions is September 15, 2026. 

AUDITION DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Audition Dates

✓ Saturday & Sunday, September 19-20, 2026

✓ Auditions will take place at Jacobs Music Center, 750 B St, San Diego, 92101

✓ A piano accompanist will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Audition Requirements

To be considered as a paid professional, we will require from you the following:

• Beethoven Symphony No. 9 excerpt
• Sopranos, Altos, and Tenors: measures 654-780
• Basses: measures 585-610 and 663-692
• Brahms Requiem, movement 7 excerpt
• Sopranos: measures 1-10
• Altos: measures 83-100
• Tenors: measures 103-110
• Basses measures: 10-18
• One selection of your choice
• Sight singing
• Vocalization
• Singing resume

To be considered as a volunteer, we will require from you the following::

• Beethoven Symphony No. 9 excerpt
