In addition to playing for the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, violist Qing Liang has been the Principal Violist of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and has played with the San Diego Master Chorale and the San Diego Youth Symphony. Qing is a member of the Pacific Harmony String Quartet (formed in 1998), performing Western classical music as well as traditional classical music from Eastern cultures. The Pacific Harmony String Quartet was featured in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Music Series and has released a CD called Melodies of the Far East

Mr. Liang is from Shanghai, China, where he performed as Principal Viola for the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music) and the Shanghai Chamber Orchestra. He also served as the Assistant Principal Viola for the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Before joining the SDSO, Qing was the Principal Viola for the USC Chamber Orchestra while attending the USC School of Music on a full scholarship.
