Black History Month

This February marks the 45th official celebration of Black History Month. Here at the San Diego Symphony, we are joining the celebration by amplifying Black voices and using our platforms to uplift their stories. Spanning new, recent, and archival pieces, we will be sharing a collection of performances, talks, and articles throughout the month.

From artists and musicians to activists and authors, we encourage our audience to explore and learn with us about the countless examples of Black excellence who have contributed to and shaped our culture, and continue to do so. While we honor these extraordinary stories, honoring Black history also requires acknowledging the role and impact of systemic barriers since our nation’s founding. Our stories will highlight the significance of these contributions while sharing historical context.

Join us in learning by following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or by checking back here on the San Diego Symphony blog.

We hope that you’ll continue to experience #BlackExcellence in music and the arts with us, in February and throughout the rest of the year.
